FOREIGN LANGUAGE Offerings at All Saints Lower School
The Lower School Spanish program is designed to promote appreciation of another language and culture through various meaningful (and fun!) activities. The program is based in part on the Cognitive Method, which utilizes and teaches skills for relating new material to a child’s prior knowledge. This is carried out in class through songs, rhymes, books, and videos.
A fundamental part of our program is the Home Assessment Program. The program gives children the opportunity to practice Spanish at home and in other forums outside the classroom. This assists parents in assessing their child’s progress in Spanish, and gives students confidence in their language abilities. Throughout each facet of the program, our aim is to realize that learning another language and communicating with different people is fun!
