FINE ARTS at All Saints Middle School
ART: The All Saints Art program provides opportunities for Fifth and Sixth Grade students to express individual ideas through a variety of media suited to their abilities and expressive needs. Students learn art history, gain insight into art criticism and increase their art vocabulary through a special feature of the art program entitled "Artist of the Month."
STUDIO ART: Studio Art is offered to students in the Seventh and Eighth Grade who have demonstrated a special interest in art. The class provides a hands on experience in design, composition, and drawing techniques using a wide variety of media.
ART HISTORY: Art history, offered to Ninth Grade, emphasizes the mastery, appreciation, and recognition of stylistic developments from cave paintings to the twentieth century. Reproductions, films, and slides, as well as studio experiences, help students understand and appreciate art.
ART I: Art I combines two class periods of Studio Art with Art History for Ninth Grade students who wish to receive a high school fine arts credit.
DRAMA: Dramatic skills and oral presentation skills that lead into both theatrical productions that are age-appropriate and into public speaking are experienced in a class setting. Students experience hands-on training that enables them to operate sound and light equipment and to do their own makeup. The knowledge of costuming appropriate to the production at hand is part of the training. In addition, an annual play is presented in the spring semester and is open to all Middle School/Jr. High students.
